Seasonal Depression and Inspiration

Wow, I’m sick of the cold and wet. I miss winters like we used to have. Where there was snow all winter and then it melted. Not snow, then melt, rain, snow, then melt, rain and so on. Anyways. Other than this weekend the weather seems to be changing or the better and I’m starting to become more inspired and ambitious. How are you feeling?

That’s not to say I’m not still plugging away in the studio, keeping folks stocked, like Rise in Cumberland.

Whenever I am having a hard time in the studio I think about this Chuck Close quote. “Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightening to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself.” I’m not saying that I 100% agree with everything it says, but, it aint far from the truth.

So I’ve been focusing on the process, trying to keep on progressing and making good work. Even when I don’t want to haha.

2024

Welcome back! Another attempt at consistency, we’ll see how it goes. I have been chipping away at work in the studio and signing up for shows so far this year. I have also been keeping Mast Landing, Foundation Brewing and Freeport Market all stocked for you folks! Thanks so much for the support so far and check back soon for updates!

Here’s some of the new work, maybe you’ve seen it?

Confetti in Biddeford, Maine this weekend!

Alright so I’ve got about 15 minutes before I gotta go pick up kiddo so I though now would be a good time for a quick post.

I’ve been working on some new stickers as well, I’ve got three “Portland, Maine” themed stickers so far. I definitely plan on doing more, as well as a few Westbrook designs for my town and the music nights in August.

I know this was a quick one, but I wanted to stay somewhat consistent. I hope to see some of you folks in Biddeford this weekend!

Welcome back

2023, I have hit the ground running. So much has happened since I posted about the show at Local and I feel bad for not being on top of sharing with you guys. I hate sitting in front of the computer, it feels like it is taking away time from myself, but I forget. CONNECTION. This is a great way for me to connect to you guys. Let you know what I’m trying, and what I’m thinking in a little deeper way than on social media. So, every week you’ll find me here. Bear with me as I learn to convey my thoughts through writing. I will apologize in advance for any grammatical errors. I also plan on writing with a stream of conscience. You’ve been warned and enjoy!

This brings me to a huge and new and long overdue change here at Creighton Studios. I started using a planner, which is just crazy and a level of organization I’ve never had. Kind of ridiculous to say “out loud” but let me just say it’s never to late to get a little more ORGANIZED, even if it takes you a thousand tries. Also, do something that just works for you, don’t worry about what it looks like. Organization is the only way I will be able to keep up with posting here so wish me luck.

I updated my FAIR LIST today!

Finally, and maybe the most important, you can now find me at FREEPORT MARKET. If you are up shopping at the outlets, you can now find Creighton Studios shirts, hats, prints, stickers and magnets! Feels pretty good to be rubbing shoulders with the big name brands so don’t forget to support local!

As always find available work HERE and thanks as always,

Chad

A great show put on by @castleberryfairs right across from Lake Winnipesaukee.

Should be a time! Stop by!

😉 there’s a great bar on the lake too.

Wow, 7 months just went by in an instant. Snap. Gone.

I have to admit I burnt myself out last winter and have been hiding in my cave ever since… kinda. After a lot of holiday fairs and great times with better people I had a hard time settling back into the studio. I used it as opportunities to try a bunch of stuff that I didn’t really care about, or I guess that’s wrong. I didn’t care if they came out well. I look forward to sharing some of that stuff in the near future.

I had this show hung for February and March, one at Discover Downtown Westbrook, it came down this week.

As well as one at Goodfire Brewing in Portland.

As always you can get my work at The Merchant Co., Foundation Brewing (thanks to everyone who has bought a piece recently, wow!), and Definitive Brewing in Portland. Brook City Nutrition in Westbrook and Locally Handmade in the Kittery Outlets are also options.

I feel like I am finally finding some balance between everything in my new(ish) life change. So expect more here. I know, I know, I know you’ve heard it all before.
